Technician Permissions

Control what your Technicians can view, create, and update from the Pool Brain mobile app

You can set permissions for any technician to control what they can see and do in the mobile app. Technician permissions are not the same as user permissions which control what office staff can view and manage in the web dashboard.


Technician Permissions

Step 1: Go to the Technicians page by clicking "TECHNICIANS" in the left hand menu

Step 2: Click "Edit" next to the Technician you want to change permissions for

Step 3:

Click the toggle switches next to each permission row to turn them on or off (the setting change saves as soon as you click the switch)

Technician Permissions List

Each permission below applies to the mobile app only as Technicians can't login to the web dashboard unless they have a separate user login.

  • Can see customer contact info

    Tech must have this permission to view customer phone number

  • Can edit "on the way" text message

    Tech must have this permission to edit the default "on the way" message that is sent to the customer

    If a technician does NOT have this permission activated, they can still select the number of minutes for their ETA but they can't alter the message in any other way

  • Can edit equipment items

    Tech must have this permission to edit equipment details on customer history screen or while completing Jobs & Route Stops

  • Can view and manage existing products/services on Jobs

    Tech must have this permission to view and manage products or services on Jobs

    • Can see prices/amounts

      Tech must have this permission to see prices or amounts for products or services on Jobs

  • Can create new products/services

    Tech must have this permission to create new products or services

  • Can create Route Stops

    Tech must have this permission to create a Route Stop on demand

  • Can create Jobs

    Tech must have this permission to create new Jobs

  • Can create Invoices

    Tech must have this permission to create new Invoices

  • Can create Quotes

    Tech must have this permission to create new Quotes

  • Can create Customers

    Tech must have this permission to create new Customers

  • Can add notes that customers can view in Job/Route Stop Emails

    Tech must have this permission to enter specific notes for the customer to see

  • Photo captions show in customer emails

    Tech must have this permission to enter photo captions in the app that display beneath the photo(s) in the customer email

  • Can edit Jobs

    Tech must have this permission to edit Job details

  • Can edit Invoices

    Tech must have this permission to edit Invoice details

  • Can send Job emails to customers

    Tech must have this permission to send Job emails to customers

  • Can send Invoice emails to customers

    Tech must have this permission to send Invoice emails to customers

  • Can access customer details/history screen

    Controls whether technicians can view the customer details screen which has a lot of data similar to what can be viewed on web dashboard by an office user. The individual sub-permissions below control more specifics of what they can access or change on that screen.

    • Can view job & route stop history

      Tech must have this permission to see job & route stop history for a customer (they can always view their own completed Job/Route Stop history on a different screen)

    • Can view quote history

      Tech must have this permission to see quote history for a customer (they can always view quotes they are assigned to from a different screen)

    • Can view invoice history

      Tech must have this permission to see invoice history for a customer

    • Can view payment history

      Tech must have this permission to see a customer's payment history

    • Can edit gate codes

      Tech must have this permission to edit gate codes

    • Can edit property access instructions

      Tech must have this permission to edit property access instructions

    • Can edit dog info

      Tech must have this permission to edit information about dogs

  • Can access scheduling screen

    Tech can access the new scheduling section in app

    • Can view other technician's routes

      Tech can view all routes for all technicians (if they don't have this permission, they can only view their own routes)

    • Can assign & remove technicians from routes

      Tech can change who is assigned to which routes

    • Can move & schedule jobs / route stop

      Tech can move & schedule jobs / route stops to any route they have permission to view

    • Can view unscheduled jobs / route stops

      Tech can open the "Unscheduled" section at the top of the screen to view jobs and route stops that haven't been placed on a route yet

    • Can view future dates

      Tech can view scheduling for any future date they want (if they don't have this permission, they can only view today's date)

    • Can mark jobs to be skipped

      Tech can mark any job / route stop they have permission to view as "Skipped". Skipped jobs won't display as needing to be done in the app for the assigned tech.

    • Can edit start and end locations

      Tech can change the address for the start or end location on any route they have permission to view
