Pool Brain does all the calculations for you so payroll for technicians is a breeze. You can set different pay levels for different technician roles and service level/type combinations. For example, you'd likely pay your technician different amounts for full service on a small pool vs full service on a large pool. Similarly, you'd pay them different amounts for Full service on a small pool vs chemicals only on a small pool. The options are endless for how you can configure it.

How to create a technician role

The first thing you need to do is create a technician "role". Roles let you set different pay rates for different technicians easily. For example, you may pay your trainees $5 per pool, your junior techs $8 per pool and your senior techs $11 per pool. In that case, you can create 3 roles and name them "Trainee", "Junior Tech" and "Senior Tech". Then you can assign any role to any technician with 1 click and the system will know how to calculate their pay based on your settings for that role. You may only have one role or you may have multiple and these are just examples.

  • Navigate to Settings and scroll down to the "Technician Pay" section

  • Create a new technician role by clicking + Add Role in the top right corner. The Create New Role window appears and you can name it anything you like (junior tech, senior tech, etc). Click "Save" button when done.

PRO TIP:
Once you've adjusted all the settings for one role you can duplicate the role to make minor adjustments to the settings for a different role you want to create without having to start over from scratch. To duplicate a role, just click the icon as shown below.

How to assign a role to a technician

  • Open the Technicians page from the left hand menu of the main web dashboard

  • Click on the name of the technician you want to assign a role to

  • Scroll down to the "Pay" section and select the role from the drop down menu in the top left corner of that section. (If you can't see this section, it's because you don't have the user permission to view it)

The technician now has the role assigned and pay will be calculated according to the settings for that role.
